The purpose of this website is to inform the people of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand about the origins and current consequences of the establishment of leasehold land in Napier after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931.
Members of the public in Hawkes Bay are invited to submit material for uploading to this website.
Suggested resources are the history of the leasehold land scheme, examples of specific properties rating demands over the decades, communications with community leaders, uses the funds gathered have been applied to and examples of current difficulties that some citizens of Napier are experiencing.
